Creative Highlights
Much Ado was so much about character themes that ebbed, flowed, and shifted with the characters' story arcs. Inspiration for music came from a combination of Italian composers from the 1910s, the period that the show was set, as well as ragtime pieces played instead by orchestras as opposed to typical instrumentation for the style and period of music. One set of pieces I wrote also served as interconnected music motifs, where the themes of Beatrice and Benedick were counter melodies to each other that came together as they did as well. They are my favorite Shakespeare couple, so this was really fun and fulfilling to be able to add the idea to production.
